Today we officially launch the 2019 Premier’s Literary Prizes, with entries now open until Thursday, 27 June 2019.
The Premier’s Literary Prizes celebrate Tasmanian writers and Tasmanian stories, with past winners including the highly-acclaimed Heather Rose, Richard Flanagan, Katherine Lomer, Robert Dessaix and Erin Hortle.
The 2019 Premier’s Literary Prizes are:
- Tasmania Book Prize ($25 000) – best book with Tasmanian content in any genre.
- Margaret Scott Prize ($5 000) – best book by a Tasmanian writer.
- University of Tasmania Prize ($5 000) – best unpublished literary work by an emerging Tasmanian writer.
- Tasmanian Young Writer’s Fellowship ($5 000) – recognising a young Tasmanian writer aged 30 or under.
To be eligible for the Tasmania Book Prize and the Margaret Scott Prize, books must have been published between 1 April 2017 and 30 April 2019.
The prizes are delivered by Arts Tasmania with support from the University of Tasmania and anonymous private philanthropists.
