Steve Scalise: “We’ll see what happens.”
LAGOP Official: “There is a movement to get another candidate into that race.”
In case you missed it, Congressman Steve Scalise refused to endorse either of the two Republicans in the Louisiana governor’s race today, instead saying, “We’ll see what happens.”
The Abraham campaign argued they would receive a “DJT bump” from his visit to Louisiana but instead they received news Trump was recruiting Scalise to run for governor.
Trump and Scalise join Louisiana Republicans disappointed in the choice between Abraham and Rispone. In February, Louisiana Republican Party Official Scott Wilfong said there’s so much concern about a lack of quality Republican candidates in the governor’s race that “there is a movement to get another candidate into that race.” In December, Sen. John Kennedy released a poll showing only he and Scalise even came close to beating Gov. Edwards. Both Scalise and Kennedy have passed on entering the governor’s race.
