On 15 December 2017, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (the Royal Commission) presented its final report to governments. The final report and documents published by the Royal Commission are available on the Royal Commission’s website.
At the Council of Australian Governments meeting on 7 February 2018, the Premier and all First Ministers committed to providing a government response within six months of the tabling of the final report (June 2018).
The Queensland Government response (PDF, 1.68MB) to the Royal Commission was tabled by the Premier in Parliament on Friday 15 June 2018.
In June 2018, the Queensland Government also accepted the Royal Commission’s recommendation to provide annual reports for five years, commencing 12 months after the Royal Commission presented its final report to governments. The Queensland Government’s first annual progress report (PDF, 591KB) was tabled in Parliament on 19 December 2018.
The Premier acknowledges the immense work of the Royal Commission over the five years of its inquiry.
The Premier also acknowledges the immense bravery of all who shared their horrific stories. Their courage in coming forward and working with the Royal Commission is to be applauded.
