Lifeline for Troublesmiths

The Hodgman Liberal Government is pleased to have provided a lifeline to a Southern Tasmanian social enterprise program aimed at addressing youth unemployment in Tasmania.

The Youth Entrepreneurial Services (YES) program and its social enterprise, Troublesmiths, has been operating since 2017, helping 15-24 year-olds at risk of long-term unemployment gain valuable training and skills.

Through the support of Impact Communities YES initiative, those involved have access to life and professional/employment coaching, and support to reach their personal goals, often gaining employment or self-employment or further education opportunities.

With the pilot program’s funding ceasing on the 25 May, the Tasmanian Government has stepped in to provide $75,000 to allow the program to continue while they apply for Federal funds.

This lifeline will allow the YES program to work with another 24 young people, on top of the some 99 young Tasmanians who have already been assisted by the program since it commenced.
