Concord, NH – Today, Governor Chris Sununu issued the following statement after passage of SB 228 by the House:
"My administration has long supported allowing small-business owners to join together through trade and professional associations to purchase health insurance for themselves and their employees through Association Health Plans (AHPs). I believe they have the potential to help transform today’s health care system into one that is more consumer and market-oriented, which will lower costs. AHPs will offer individuals more choices and opportunity to find a health care arrangement that suits them and their families, and I hope federal litigation that is holding up our authority to implement them is resolved soon. Senate Bill 228 also positions the state to stabilize the individual market through 1332 waivers. I applaud the legislature for working in a bipartisan manner and I look forward to signing this bill when it reaches my desk."
Note: Governor Chris Sununu also signed HB 252, establishing a committee to study certain labor statutes, into law.
