5月30日，副省长覃伟中率队赴揭阳市调研工业和信息化、交通设施建设等方面情况，先后前往巨轮机器人与智能制造有限公司、惠来县临港产业园、省道S337、省道S338建设项目、中委广东石化2000万吨炼化一体化项目和大南海石化工业区公共码头等地考察，深入了解项目进展、园区招商引资等情况，并召开座谈会，向有关石化、化工企业了解大南海石化工业区建设情况，听取大家的意见和建议。 覃伟中对揭阳市在工业和信息化、交通建设方面的成果表示肯定。他强调，发展智能制造是实现制造业升级的内在要求，要积极促进制造业由生产型制造业向服务型制造业转型。要依托海上风电和LNG清洁能源，大力推进临港产业园风电项目的建设进度，争取早日并网发电；要认真落实高质量发展要求，把中委广东石化炼化一体化项目建设成世界级炼化基地；要全面推进大南海石化工业区道路、供排水、电力供应等基础设施建设，加快危废、固废、污水处理等环保项目建设，保障炼化项目如期建成；要尽快完成S337、S338道路配套建设，完善大南海港区的集疏运体系。
