I encourage all Tasmanians to ‘be great and nominate’ those who make our State a better place to live. There are countless Tasmanians who do remarkable work in our community every day, often without recognition. The Australian of the Year Awards provide all Australians with the opportunity to recognise someone who makes them proud in four categories: Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Australia’s Local Hero. Tasmania’s 2019 Australian of the Year Award recipients have been travelling around the State this week on a ‘Tour of Honour’ to share their stories and encourage Tasmanians to nominate for the 2020 awards. Being nominated is a great honour and not only gives nominees due recognition, but in many cases, also creates a platform for them to further their cause. Nominations close 31 July 2019.
