(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that – in accordance with a presidential proclamation directing flags to be lowered throughout the country in remembrance of the victims of the mass shooting in Virginia Beach, Virginia – U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will fly at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.
Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time.
“Connecticut is grieving with the victims in Virginia Beach, as well as their families, friends, and those in the community,” Governor Lamont said. “However, thoughts and prayers ring hollow without meaningful action. I’m proud of what we’ve done in Connecticut, but we must demand federal action on this issue.”
