The Whitsunday Community Cabinet held on Sunday, October 23 in Proserpine was the latest chance for the Queensland community to speak directly with the Palaszczuk Government and members of the cabinet.

The Community Cabinet was followed by the DestinationQ forum in Mackay and the launch of the Advancing Tourism 2016-20: Growing Queensland Jobs strategy (PDF, 735KB) on the following Monday.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said tourism was a very important industry for the region.

“In fact, tourism is worth more than $3 billion to the Mackay and Whitsunday region and supports more than 13,000 jobs,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“The Advancing Tourism 2016-20: Growing Queensland Jobs strategy (PDF, 735KB) is about working in partnership with industry to make sure regions right across Queensland—not just Mackay Whitsunday—can take advantage of the 23,000 new tourism jobs expected the sector will need by 2020.”
